West Ham are not thinking about sacking Graham Potter despite growing pressure as a result of his difficult tenure at the London Stadium so far.

Speaking on the latest edition of Football Insider’s Inside Track podcast, senior correspondent Pete O’Rourke revealed what sources have told him about the 50-year-old’s position amid growing frustrations amongst the supporters.

Pressure on the boss had ramped up in the aftermath of their 3-0 opening-day defeat to Sunderland, but it is not expected to lead to an immediate decision.

Former Hammers scout Mick Brown told Football Insider on 18 August that Potter is facing huge pressure following a “disastrous” start to the season.

Since taking over from Julen Lopetegui in January, he has won just five of his 20 games in charge, and there is a growing feeling that the form must improve soon.

However, the board’s stance has not changed from last season, when Football Insider revealed that West Ham were unlikely to sack Potter and would back him in the transfer market.

Brown told Football Insider in May that West Ham are asking serious questions of Potter at the London Stadium as pressure continues to intensify.

The closing stages of last season had heightened concerns about the manager’s performances and ability to get the best out of the players at his disposal.

O’Rourke explained that despite questions being asked about the manager’s future and the frustrating results under his stewardship, the board remain behind him.

“I don’t think there’s any immediate pressure from the board on Graham Potter,” he told Football Insider.

“Graham Potter, he’s not had the best of times at West Ham since his arrival in January with just five wins in 19 league games.

“It seems that Potter still has the full support of the West Ham hierarchy.

“Karren Brady, was out speaking publicly defending Potter saying that he’s still got the support of the board as well.

“So I don’t expect any knee jerk reactions from West Ham right now as well.

“But obviously the upcoming fixtures, results don’t improve or performances don’t improve, obviously that will bring its own pressure.”

Following their dismal start to the season, the Hammers remain determined to strengthen in the transfer market, and have identified Raheem Sterling as an option.

Brown told Football Insider on 21 August that Sterling’s agent has made contact with West Ham as they view him as a potential late signing this summer.

Potter is believed to be a fan of Sterling after working with him during his time at Stamford Bridge and could hold the key to his arrival.

This comes after Brown told Football Insider in March that Sterling wants to stay in the Premier League in the upcoming season and is “certain” to leave Stamford Bridge.
