What Liverpool’s stance on Ruben Amorim is now after surprise West Ham update

There’s been a hugely surprising news update today in the form of Ruben Amorim, Liverpool and West Ham United.

Sporting Lisbon boss Amorim is believed to be on Liverpool’s radar as they seek a replacement for Jurgen Klopp.

Multiple outlets have reported on how Amorim is the one who could end up replacing Klopp at Liverpool as they look to the future.

However, in a shock report today, it’s been claimed that it is West Ham who are now keen on Amorim and the Hammers have apparently opened talks with him.

Of course, that leaves Liverpool fans wondering just what is going on. With Xabi Alonso staying at Bayer Leverkusen and Julian Nagelsmann staying with Germany, it seems like options are becoming limited.

And taking to X just now on social media, journalist Ben Jacobs has given an update on how Liverpool are operating in their manager search.

What Liverpool are now doing after Ruben Amorim to West Ham update

Speaking about the update on Amorim and Liverpool’s own stance, Jacobs suggested that Amorim has never been the main man anyway.

“West Ham have approached Ruben Amorim as a target to potentially replace David Moyes, as per @David_Ornstein. Julen Lopetegui another name in the frame, as @alex_crook first called,” Jacobs said.

“As previously reported, Liverpool and Amorim have nothing agreed to date and no job offer has already been made, despite some suggestions. #LFC have always kept an open mind with multiple candidates. Amorim has been a contender, but #LFC sources have always insisted up to now there is no singular favourite. That’s just not how Liverpool’s step-by-step process works. April is about conducting a thorough process with multiple interviews. Richard Hughes and Michael Edwards aren’t afraid to make a bold appointment.”

Liverpool need to move quickly it seems

You get the impression this isn’t the last we have heard of this saga with Ruben Amorim.

There has been so much talk of him moving on from Sporting that it looks like it’s inevitable that he will end up in England.

Whether or not that is going to be with Liverpool or someone like West Ham, now remains to be seen.

However, it does look like Liverpool might need to move quickly if Amorim is the man they want.

West Ham have been known to move quickly themselves and with news of Moyes’ exit leaking to the press, they won’t want to leave fans waiting too long.

Amorim, then, remains a name to watch and lookout for as the weeks progress.
