Liverpool overcame a significant hurdle on Sunday as they played their first match since the tragic death of Diogo Jota on July 3rd.
In the ten days since Jota’s passing, the club have ensured that the focus has remained on their No.
As a result, Liverpool fans have not really seen or heard from their quartet of new signings.
In the case of Giorgi Mamardashvili, supporters have not heard from him at all since his signing almost one year ago.
That changed on Sunday, after the 24-year-old was handed his full debut against Preston North End.
Mamardashvili played the first 45 minutes of the match, keeping a clean sheet and looking like a commanding presence in goal.
And after finally making his Liverpool bow, the Georgian took to social media to declare his pride.

With focus returning to the pitch on Sunday, Liverpool fans were excited to see Mamardashvili make his debut along with Milos Kerkez and Jeremie Frimpong.
New third choice goalkeeper Freddie Woodman also played for the first time, replacing Mamardashvili at the break.

Of course, the game was ultimately all about Jota, and that will likely be the case for quite some time to come.
But, taking to Instagram after the match, Mamardashvili took a moment to soak in a big personal milestone for he and his nation.

“Hello Reds.
Making my debut for Liverpool FC,” said the goalkeeper.
“I’m proud to be the first Georgian player to represent this legendary club.
“I know what this means for my family and for all the Georgian people.
This is just the beginning.”
While Mamardashvili’s pride at pulling on the shirt was evident, Kerkez also shared a post-game message to mark his own first match for Liverpool.
“We stay together, we are Liverpool,” said the 21-year-old, alongside a red heart emoji.
Kerkez put in a great performance during the second-half, displaying all the qualities which marked him out as a no-brainer signing at left-back.
With Frimpong showing his pace on the opposite flank, and Conor Bradley getting on the scoresheet too, Liverpool are well-stocked at full-back for the foreseeable future.
The same can be said about the goalkeeping department, with Mamardashvili and Woodman showcasing the Reds’ improved strength in depth.
