Tottenham fans have berated Dominic Solanke online after his showing off the bench in their Super Cup loss to PSG on Wednesday (13 August).
The England striker started as a substitute for Spurs as Thomas Frank aimed to lift silverware in his first competitive game since taking charge of the club.
Tottenham made the breakthrough in the first-half as Micky Van de Ven fired home a loose ball in the box just before the interval, then Cristian Romero doubled Tottenham’s lead with a headed effort not long after the second-half had begun.
PSG did not go away quietly, however, and they showed their class late on as Lee Kang-in and Goncalo Ramos both struck in the latter stages of the clash to send it to penalties, where Van de Ven and Mathys Tel both missed to allow Nuno Mendes to step up and clinch it 4-3 on spot-kicks for his side.
Richarlison started the tie ahead of Solanke up-front, with Mohammed Kudus alongside him in an unfamilar striking role, and the pair worked together brilliantly well with great pressing off the ball and quality on it to give Spurs the edge for large parts of the game.

Solanke came on for his Brazilian teammate in the 72nd minute, and while he is only just coming back from injury, it was a poor showing all round as he had just five touches of the ball, failed to complete a pass and did not win any of his three aerial duels, according to Fotmob, also allowing PSG’s centre-backs way too much time on the ball.
The 27-year-old was able to dispatch his penalty in the shootout, but it was to no avail anyway, and was not enough to spare him from the wrath of angry Tottenham fans who were blown away at the lack of quality on show after he came on the pitch, with many calling for Richarlison to be a starter going forward.
