Stefan Bajcetic is ready to take the next step on his road to recovery as he aims for a first Liverpool appearance in approaching 18 months.

Bajcetic has been working his way back to fitness having undergone a hamstring operation in May after suffering injury towards the end of a successful loan spell at Las Palmas.

Liverpool have been careful not to rush the 20-year-old back given the midfielder has suffered a number of significant injury setbacks during the last few years.

Despite interest from a host of clubs, the Reds took the decision not to allow the player to leave on loan in the summer to instead concentrate on recovering full fitness.

Bajcetic has been ramping up his rehabilitation and has been on the pitch during first-team training sessions doing individual work, although he has yet to join in full training.

That, though, is expected in the coming weeks.

And asked if the youngster could soon feature for the under-21s, U21s head coach Rob Page said: "It is a possibility, isn’t it?

"It is about getting him back on the grass.

It's about exposing him to minutes to get him back to full fitness."

Bajcetic can play in the Premier League for Liverpool this season and is also eligible to feature in the Champions League opening stage as he can be named on 'List B'.

The Spain under-21 international made his first-team breakthrough in the 2022/23 season but has featured for Liverpool only three times since March 2023, the last of which came in May 2024.
