Stefan Bajcetic joined Jeremie Frimpong and Alexander Isak at Liverpool’s AXA Training Centre and was pictured training on the grass as he continues his recovery from a hamstring injury.

The Spaniard underwent surgery during the summer after sustaining the injury towards the end of his loan spell with La Liga side Las Palmas.

The 20-year-old has been carrying out his rehabilitation at the AXA Training Centre, missing the entirety of Liverpool’s pre-season campaign as a result.

On Wednesday, a handful of senior Reds players trained alongside members of the club’s Under-21 side.

While Bajcetic was not pictured with the group, he was spotted running outside and kicking a ball.

Although his absence from full team training suggests a return to action is not yet imminent, the session marks an important step in the midfielder’s road to recovery.

Bajcetic made 19 appearances in midfield for the senior team before, in March 2023, picking up an injury that sidelined him for the rest of the campaign.

He racked up only two appearances in the next 14 months after his comeback was cut short by a calf problem.

The highly-rated midfielder featured in pre-season under new head coach Arne Slot ahead of the 2024/25 season before being sent on loan to Red Bull Salzburg.

According to the Daily Mail, Stefan Bajcetic is edging closer to full match fitness.

The midfielder could gain valuable minutes with Liverpool’s Under-21s in the coming weeks.

Bajcetic spent last season on loan at RB Salzburg and Las Palmas, and is highly regarded by Arne Slot.

He made 19 appearances during a loan spell in Austria with Salzburg in the first half of the next campaign.

Bajcetic was recalled to the Spain under-21 side, but his hamstring operation saw him miss the UEFA European U21 Championships this summer.

The Liverpool head coach opted to keep him at the club this year despite interest from across Europe, with Celta Vigo among the most eager suitors.

Now nearing a return, he could feature for Barry Lewtas’ Under-21s side, who face Manchester United a week on Sunday.
