Celtic could already have their answer on a deal for Stefan Bajcetic after Liverpool have reportedly made the midfielder available on loan.

The 20-year-old spent time out at Red Bull Salzburg and Las Palmas last term but has returned to the Premier League champions this summer.

The Spaniard appears unlikely to land a run in the team under Arne Slot and The Athletic report several clubs have shown an interest in the defensive-minded midfielder - with the club open to a temporary exit.

Brendan Rodgers is on the hunt for new recruits with just days to go until the start of the new Premiership season - and has made little secret of his desire for the club to ramp up their transfer business.

Several outlets claim that "initial contact" has been made by Celtic over a potential deal to bring Bajcetic to Glasgow's east end.

And potential suitors are likely to already know the answer to any approach - with the midfielder in a similar spot to last summer when Red's boss Slot threw open the exit door at Anfield.

He said at the time: "I think he could become a very important player for us, but only if he gets playing time.

“If you are that young the only thing you need is playing time.

We think it’s best for him to play at the moment, instead of maybe playing a few times and then being on the bench for a long time again.

“Again, this club has been smart, in my opinion, for not only looking for the short term but also the long term."

Record Sport understands at least one winger, a midfielder and a main striker remain top of Brendan Rodgers’ wish list.

Alongside the start of the league season against St Mirren this weekend, Rodgers and his recruitment team also have to consider the upcoming Champions League qualifiers.

Celtic have until midnight on Thursday, August 14 to register players for the play-off.

UEFA rules allow two late additions to the 25-man squad until the day before the first leg on August 19/20.
