Liverpool were hoping Darwin Nunez would be their star striker for 10 years following his big-money signing three years ago.
The Uruguay international joined Liverpool for an initial £74million from Benfica in June 2022, with the deal rising to a potential £85million in add-ons.
Nunez has now been sold to Al-Hilal for a deal worth £46.2million, rising to £56.6million in potential add-ons.
The striker won the Community Shield, Carabao Cup and the Premier League during his three-year stint on Merseyside.

Nunez largely divided opinion among Liverpool fans before making his move to Al-Hilal.
Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, Borson said: “It’s a big cash loss.
“But you buy a player for £70million at 22 when they bought him, I guess they would have looked at it and hoped he was going to be their striker for the next 10 years.
