Newcastle United agreed a deal to sign Nick Woltemade from Stuttgart following an “amazing” twist for the striker.
Newcastle signed Woltemade in a club-record deal, with the £69million fee eclipsing the £63million they paid for Alexander Isak in 2022.
The Germany international registered 17 goals and three assists across his 33 appearances in all competitions last season.
Woltemade has arrived at Newcastle after Eddie Howe’s side spent weeks trying to sign a new striker to replace Isak.
Isak joined Liverpool in a £125million deal on deadline day following weeks of speculation surrounding his future.

I think he got 12 in the league, with a couple of penalties.
“I think he had a very good Under-21s Euros, which I think is kind of really what propelled him, and there was interest from Bayern Munich apparently.
“But that said, I don’t think Bayern would have paid anywhere near the price that Newcastle have paid given that they’ve got Harry Kane.
“I don’t see where he fits in if you’ve got Harry Kane, so it’s a sign of the times.”

Football Insider revealed on 31 August Wolves could offer Strand Larsen a new big-money contract to remain at Molineux.
The 25-year-old has registered 16 goals and five assists in 41 appearances since joining Vitor Pereira’s side last summer.
