Tottenham captain Son Heung-min could have earned more money in Saudi Arabia as he closes in on a record-breaking transfer.
The South Korea international has spent the past decade in north London after joining Spurs from Bayer Leverkusen for £22million in 2015.
Son announced over the weekend he would be leaving Tottenham this summer as he looks to embark on a new challenge.
Saudi Pro League clubs have shown an interest in signing Son in recent weeks after previously trying to lure him to the Middle East.
However, BBC Sport reported on Monday (4 August) the 33-year-old is expected to join Los Angeles FC for around £20million, surpassing the record-breaking £17million fee Atlanta United paid to sign Emmanuel Latte Lath from Middlesbrough in February.
It said the final details of the transfer remain in discussion, but Son’s move to LAFC is now subject just to the completion of paperwork and a medical.

The winger is under contract in north London until June 2026, but he now looks set to move to LAFC despite interest from Saudi clubs.
Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, Borson said: “I think the wages in Saudi would be much bigger.
“I suspect there are not many South Koreans who’ve gone to Saudi Arabia so far, and I think for any player going to LA obviously looks quite attractive.”
