Chelsea fans are “surprised” about the terms of the deal Bayern Munich agreed to sign Nicolas Jackson on loan.

Jackson completed his move to Bayern Munich before the end of the summer transfer window.

The Bundesliga champions agreed to pay a £14.3million loan fee for the 24-year-old, with a £56.2million obligation-to-buy clause included in the deal depending on appearances.

However, Bayern Munich’s honorary chief Uli Hoeness has revealed Jackson’s switch would “never become permanent” due to the terms of the loan deal.

“Because if he’s got to play 40 games, let’s say, before the obligation crystallises, then really Chelsea have simply got a very big loan fee for a season of Nicolas Jackson.

“If it’s 40 games, then Bayern Munich effectively control what happens.

Because you’d think he’s going to play 20 come what may, but he’s only going to play 40 if the manager really rates him, they really want him and they don’t mind triggering the release clause.

“So, he’s done okay, but I think you just see from the reaction of Chelsea fans that they’re surprised about the scale of the fee.”
