Steven Gerrard has changed the recipe for success at Aston Villa and the former Liverpool captain may have taken inspiration from Reds boss Jurgen Klopp and his staff.

Social media was abuzz when hearing new Villa boss Gerrard has banned his players from fizzy drinks, tomato ketchup and chocolate.

With a Champions League win and Premier League title in the last few years, it is clear Klopp’s marginal gains have been working and Gerrard will be hoping for success of his own.

Ever since walking through the door at Anfield, Klopp has been in search of marginal gains - and it looks as though Gerrard may be doing the same at Villa Park.

"When he comes to Villa, they’re an established Premier League side so there’s less of those immediate gains to be made but If he’s deemed the diet and nutrition as an area that needs addressing, again that’s another easy win."

Asked who is the most important signing Klopp has made as manager of Liverpool, you might not expect Mona Nemmer to be the answer.

With Klopp’s degree in sports science, the German manager takes that side of the game very seriously and looks at ways he can give his players the edge on their opponents.
