Cautious Steven Gerrard has called upon his Rangers stars to avoid the title mistakes he made as a player as they opened up an 11-point gap over rivals Celtic.

But Gerrard was quick to warn against complacency despite his side racking up the goals and leaving the opposition in their wake after Ryan Kent, Kemar Roofe, Scott Arfield and James Tavernier all found the net.

"But the boys coming onto the pitch are still keeping the level, keeping their standards up and creating real, good chances."

Rangers have made their best start to a season in 53 years but the Liverpool icon was quick to point out the lessons he picked up after a title triumph evaded him during his Anfield days.

The Ibrox boss was delighted with his side following their comprehensive 4-0 win over Aberdeen that has them dreaming of title glory.

"We certainly won't be getting carried away."

"It could have been a few more but it was four and we move on."
