Jurgen Klopp once dubbed Liverpool 'mentality monsters' and after a 2-1 win over Brighton, a stunning statistic proves he's probably right.

The victory over the Seagulls came after the Reds conceded first, meaning they've now won 26 points from losing positions this season, which is more than they've ever managed in the Premier League.

Given they still have nine games left to play this season, that number could substantially grow.

It was a very important win for Klopp's men as they moved to the top of the Premier League table with title rivals Manchester City and Arsenal playing each other later on Sunday.

Danny Welbeck opened the scoring inside two minutes with an excellent strike before Luis Diaz equalised later in the first half when Joel Veltman's clearance landed perfectly for him to tap in.

Mohamed Salah then popped up with a second-half winner at the Kop End with a low left-footed drive.

Brighton midfielder Adam Lallana reveals that he is 'desperate' for Liverpool to win the Premier League this season

The full-time whistle provoked scenes of Reds relief on the touchline and on the pitch as the Merseysiders celebrated a huge win.

This was also Klopp's 300th victory as Liverpool manager in what was his 478th match in charge of the club.

But the fact they fell behind again and came back to win once more, proves that this current batch of Liverpool players are worthy of the nickname 'mentality monsters'.

Of course, Reds fans and Klopp would no doubt prefer if Liverpool didn't have to keep coming from behind, but it's a handy habit in a title race.

Speaking after the game to Sky Sports about the win, Klopp said: "We dominated the game in lots of moments.

"You cannot calm them down for 96 minutes, but in so many moments, we did really well after a super tricky start because it was a wonderful goal.

"We were not in a rush in our build-up, but in our finishing, we were.

"We had a lot of moments and shots where we didn't finish them with the real quality we have.

"But, in the end, I am really, really happy with the way we played today."

Liverpool have nine league games left of Klopp's reign

The German was also asked about his side's remarkable record at coming from behind in games.

He said: "It's all about reacting.

"If we've learned something this year, it's that we can do these things [come back to win].

"I don't take it for granted.

I would prefer to be 3-0 up and then 7-0 after 85 minutes.

Then I would calm down, but unfortunately, that doesn't happen."

Certainly, it's clear that Klopp's final Liverpool squad aren't fazed by going a goal down, and that resilience could help them win a Premier League title.
