Sunderland are expected to complete two deadline-day signings as they continue to strengthen their squad before the transfer window closes.

It has already been a busy window for the newly promoted side, making statement additions like Granit Xhaka and Habib Diarra in the bid to avoid an immediate return to the Championship.

The Black Cats have enjoyed a successful start to life in the Premier League, picking up six points from their opening three games.

Regis Le Bris’ side ran out 3-0 winners at home to West Ham United on opening day, and a last-minute Wilson Isidor goal helped them to a 2-1 victory over Brentford on Saturday (30 August).

With the transfer deadline fast approaching, Sunderland are looking to improve both their attacking and defensive ranks.

According to Sky Sports, the Wearside club have agreed a deal to bring in RB Leipzig right-back Lutsharel Geertruida on an initial loan with an option to buy.

In addition, Sunderland are set to complete the permanent signing of Ajax striker Bryan Brobbey for a fee of around £21million.

The Black Cats have a full agreement with the Dutch giants for Brobbey, and the 23-year-old will come in as a replacement for Marc Guiu, who has been recalled by Chelsea.

Guiu only made the switch to the Stadium of Light last month, but an injury to Liam Delap has forced the Blues to cut his loan short.

Meanwhile, Sunderland are exploring a deadline-day deal to sign Norwich City striker Josh Sargent, sources have told Football Insider.

The Premier League new boys have made contact with the Championship outfit over a last-gasp move for the 25-year-old.

Sunderland are working on multiple deals to increase their attacking options by Monday night’s cut-off.

Sargent is the Championship top scorer as it stands with five goals in four league games for Norwich, including a brace against Blackburn Rovers on Saturday (30 August).
