Opta’s supercomputer has predicted the likely outcome of Sunday’s Premier League clash between Liverpool and Manchester City.

Liverpool welcome Pep Guardiola’s struggling side to Anfield for a match that could determine who wins the league this season.

The Reds have raced into an eight-point lead at the top of the league table thanks to a return of eleven wins in their opening 13 league games (D1, L1).

The most recent of those wins came away at Southampton last week, with a Mohamed Salah brace sparring Liverpool’s blushes after they went 2-1 down at the Southcoast.

The win was the second time in the last few weeks Liverpool have taken advantage of a major slip-up by their rivals, so they come into the weekend game as the most in-form team in the top-flight.

Meanwhile, Manchester City suffered another embarrassing defeat in their last Premier League game.

Guardiola’s side were beaten 4-0 at home by Tottenham, meaning they have lost their last three league games.

A shocking 3-3 draw against Feyenoord in the Champions League also means that City are winless in their last six games in all competitions- a rare occurrence in Pep Guardiola’s illustrious career.

With both sides coming into this tie in contrasting forms, Opta supercomputer has simulated the likely outcome of the game, and as expected, it makes for good reading for Liverpool fans.

Opta supercomputer prediction of Liverpool vs Manchester City

After doing 1,000 simulations of the game, the Opta supercomputer has unsurprisingly named Liverpool the favourite to win.

According to the supercomputer, Arne Slot’s side have a 45.3% chance of beating Man City.

The likelihood of a draw is 24.8%, while the visitors have a 29.8% chance of defeating Liverpool.

Although Liverpool are in better shape than Man City, form often goes out the window when both sides meet.

Liverpool enjoyed some big wins over Guardiola’s side during Jurgen Klopp’s reign and have lost just one of the last 21 Premier League home H2Hs (W13, D7).

However, they are winless in their last competitive games against the Premier League defending champions (D2, L2) after going unbeaten in five head-to-head games prior (W3, D2).

Meanwhile, Guardiola revealed who is a tougher opponent for his side between Liverpool and Arsenal?
