Liverpool’s quest to find a successor to Jürgen Klopp is well underway, although a definitive candidate has yet to emerge.
Many fans had hoped for Xabi Alonso to take the reins, given his success at Bayer Leverkusen, but he has since stated that he’s not in contention.
Rúben Amorim currently stands as the frontrunner, but there’s still room for a surprise candidate to land the job.
Feyenoord boss Arne Slot has unexpectedly emerged as one of the frontrunners to potentially take over as Liverpool’s next manager, according to Sky Bet,
Sloti finds himself behind Amorim and Brighton boss Roberto De Zerbi in the race for Liverpool’s managerial position.
While his name hasn’t been prominently featured since Klopp’s announcement in January, he remains a figure to watch closely.
The 45-year-old has been making waves in the Netherlands, particularly after leading Feyenoord to the Eredivisie title last season, and they’re still in contention this year, although PSV appear poised to clinch the crown with just one more win needed.
Slot’s managerial journey has been impressive.
After a career as an attacking midfielder, playing for clubs like FC Zwolle, NAC Breda, Sparta Rotterdam, and PEC Zwolle, he transitioned into coaching.
Starting as a youth coach at PEC Zwolle, he later served as an assistant at Cambuur before stepping into an interim coaching role at the club.
He then moved on to become John van den Brom’s assistant at AZ Alkmaar, eventually taking over as head coach.
His tenure at AZ was cut short due to the COVID-19 pandemic, but his work drew attention, leading to his appointment at Feyenoord.
In his first season, Feyenoord finished third in the Eredivisie and reached the final of the Europa Conference League.
However, his second season saw Feyenoord clinch the Eredivisie title, sparking further interest, including links to the Premier League.
Slot was rumored for the Tottenham job last summer and was reportedly considered for the Leeds United position earlier in the year.
Despite the speculation, he opted to extend his contract with Feyenoord, committing to the club until 2026.
