Liverpool’s return to Adidas has dominated football headlines today, with the Premier League champions officially unveiling their striking new home and away kits for the 2025-26 season in a bumper launch at Anfield.

Meanwhile, transfer speculation continues to swirl around Swedish international Alexander Isak, with DaveOCKOP exclusively reporting on Friday that the Reds are ready to return with a second bid totalling £140m.

However, there is always something new happening in the transfer market, with a fresh development now occurring in the second tier of Swedish football.

Umeå FC has announced the signing of former Liverpool winger Jordan Ibe on a free transfer, pending work permit.

The 29-year-old, who once commanded a £15million transfer fee when moving from Liverpool to Bournemouth in 2016, represents a significant coup for the Superettan outfit.

Despite making 58 appearances for Liverpool and scoring four goals, Ibe struggled to establish himself as a consistent first-team player.

His move to Bournemouth in July 2016 for £15million – then a club record – was supposed to be the platform for him to fulfil his potential

Following his release from Bournemouth in 2020, Ibe’s career entered a difficult period?

He returned to Derby County on a two-year contract but made only one appearance before his deal was terminated by mutual consent in 2021.

The former England Under-21 international then faced personal challenges, breaking his leg in training, and opened up about his battle with depression.

After an 18-month break from football, Ibe attempted to rebuild his career with Turkish second-tier side Adanaspor in January 2022, signing a three-and-a-half-year contract.

However, he left the club without making a competitive appearance, leading to another extended period away from the game.

Spells at non-league sides like Ebbsfleet United and Hungerford Town followed were also not his fit, and now he starts a new journey in Sweden.

The club announced that personal terms have been agreed with Ibe following a successful trial period that began nearly three weeks ago.

However, the move remains subject to work permit approval from the Swedish Migration Board, with the application submitted on July 16. Until a decision is reached, Ibe will continue training with the second-tier side at their Gammliavallen stadium

The move also represents Umeå FC’s ambition to establish themselves in Swedish football’s second tier and potentially mount a challenge for promotion back to the Allsvenskan.
