Former Liverpool forward Takumi Minamino has publicly celebrated Wataru Endo’s Premier League triumph.

Since leaving Anfield in 2022, Minamino has flourished at Monaco.

The Japan international won the club’s Player of the Season award in 2023/24, and managed 9 goals and 4 assists in 40 appearances during this recent 2024/25 campaign.

Deployed across attacking midfield and both wings, his versatility has been instrumental in Monaco’s third-place Ligue 1 finish.

Although they did not share a dressing room at Liverpool, the pair play together in the Japan national team.

On the international stage, both players are central to Japan’s ambitions after securing early qualification for the 2026 World Cup.

The Samurai Blue became the first nation to book their ticket to the expanded tournament, topping their AFC group with six consecutive wins and a +24-goal difference.

Minamino’s 6 goals in qualifying were key for the island nation.

Meanwhile, Endo is among several Liverpool players facing an uncertain future this summer after seeing his playing time reduced during Arne Slot’s first season in charge.

But good news for Reds fans emerged this week, with Endo confirming his intention to remain at Anfield next season:

“I think l’ll be at Liverpool next season,” he said, when asked about his future.

“If I have the chance to play for Liverpool, would I really want to throw that away and move to another team?

I wouldn’t.”
