Former Tottenham Hotspur star Jamie O'Hara has his head in his hands before storming off live on TalkSPORT after a prank call from former Liverpool winger Jermaine Pennant(Image: TalkSPORT)
Former Liverpool player Jermaine Pennant refused to join Real Madrid to sit on the bench, according to his agent Sky Andrew.
Pennant played for 15 clubs throughout his career, including Liverpool, Arsenal, Stoke and Birmingham.
Real Madrid have always been able to attract players from the Premier League, with Trent Alexander-Arnold amongst the latest to join the Spanish Giants, but they failed to lure in Pennant.

“A lot of people don’t know this but Jermaine Pennant could have gone to Real Madrid,” his agent told the Sports Bar.
Pennant was struggling at Liverpool, being consistently left out of the side due to problems off the pitch, and the club had agreed a fee with Real Madrid for the winger, but it wasn’t something he was interested in.
And the claims Pennant turned down Madrid left Sports Bar co-host Jamie O’Hara with his head in his hands.

“The narrative I got from the club (Real Madrid) is they were just looking for someone as a backup to sit on the bench,” Andrew explained.
“The more I said it to Jermaine, the more he said ‘no, I’m not sitting on the bench.’
“He’s a nightmare when he’s not playing.
In the end they signed someone from West Ham who didn’t play a game in the second half of the season.
“If Jermaine had gone there and not played, it would have been a disaster.
“Pennant was just one of those people, his dream was to go to Liverpool and when he messed that up, there was nowhere else to go.”
The winger ended up joining Portsmouth on loan in 2009 before heading to Spanish side Real Zaragoza.
