The Athletic has confirmed DaveOCKOP’s previous exclusive on Nottingham Forest defender Murillo.

It’s clear that that Liverpool could use another centre-back this summer.

The most concerning development is Ibrahima Konate’s contract situation.

It’s been reported that the French defender has rejected Liverpool’s initial contract extension offer, expressing disappointment with the structure of the proposed deal.

Konate’s representatives are pushing for a higher basic wage, while Liverpool’s offer was heavily performance-based, creating a disagreement over terms.

Jarell Quansah to Bayer Leverkusen for £35 million means Arne Slot has one less option at the heart of defense for next season – despite Liverpool negotiating a buy-back clause worth over £50 million.

It would be strange if the Anfield club were not examining options for the heart of defence.

DAVEOCKOP already exclusively revealed interest in Crystal Palace star Marc Guehi, who is entering the final year of his deal in south London this summer.

Now the Athletic has reported that Liverpool are also looking at Nottingham Forest’s Murillo.

We exclusively revealed back in May that he was on the shortlist of the Merseyside giants.

Now, in their Transfer Deal Sheet, the Athletic report:

“Nottingham Forest’s Murillo is also well-liked but expected to be valued too high.”

At 22, the Brazilian fits the ideal profile sought by Anfield’s decision-makers.

The Brazilian signed a long-term contract extension in January 2025, committing him to the club until the summer of 2029 as part of Forest’s bid to maintain his market value.

This is also contributing to the high price that Forest will inevitably demand should the Reds enter the negotiation table.

Signed from Corinthians in August 2023 for just £10.6 million, means Forest owner Evangelos Marinakis will want a sizeable profit margin on one of his star players.

Meanwhile, it’s been reported that Liverpool have already held direct talks with Ajax’s Jorrel Hato, whose versatility at both on the left flank and in the heart of defense is attractive.
