The Jurgen Klopp’s farewell documentary is set to be released for viewing later this year, with a possible timescales already penciled in.

Earlier this year, it was reported that Liverpool were in talks over a ‘fly-on-the-wall’ documentary series.

It aimed to capture the German’s final months as the Liverpool manager.

It is being be filmed, directed and produced by Lorton Entertainment.

The company was responsible for the likes of the Diego Maradona movie and the Steven Gerrard film – Make Us Dream.

The team will be discreetly filmed in locations decided upon by the players and manager, respecting their personal space.

It promises to provide a unique insight into Jurgen Klopp’s Liverpool, and to document the emotional ride that the following months will be.

However, much like Liverpool’s season, it seems the documentary is having a less than smooth ride in getting to favorable conclusion.

Documentary details

The highly anticipated Liverpool documentary chronicling Jurgen Klopp’s final season as manager is still without a streaming service deal, according to the Athletic.

When news of the documentary emerged in January, Liverpool was in pursuit of a quadruple, and Klopp had just announced his departure at the season’s end.

However, the team’s trajectory has since shifted, with their sights now set on securing the Carabao Cup and clinching third place in the league.

The documentary, which is still to be titled, started filming in December.

The Lorton crew embarked on capturing the essence of Liverpool’s culture, daily life, and the emergence of young talents.

Discussions over the final contract are thought to have persisted until January, following Klopp’s announcement of his departure.

Unlike traditional access-all-areas documentaries, this series adopts a distinct lifestyle angle, focusing on the club’s culture and its dedicated fan base, as well as the day-to-day operations and the promising young players coming through the ranks.

According to the Athletic, a standout moment thus far was the exclusive footage captured post-Liverpool’s Carabao Cup triumph over Chelsea on February 25, when cameras were granted access to the Wembley Stadium dressing room for the jubilant celebrations.

This unprecedented access surpassed the production team’s expectations, particularly considering Klopp’s historical reluctance to allow cameras into the inner sanctum of the dressing room.

When is the Jurgen Klopp documentary set to air?

The eight-part series is set to start streaming in August 2024, later this year.

This is despite no streaming partner having been agreed to as of yet.

Initially expected to fetch a substantial sum for the club, potentially reaching eight figures, negotiations have yet to yield a definitive agreement?

While Disney+ emerged as an early frontrunner, concrete arrangements have yet to materialize.

Whatever happens in the short time remaining of this season, it should be fascinating to get an intimate look at Jurgen Klopp’s Liverpool.
