Liverpool fans know this feeling.
The season is over, but the real work has only just started.
Every summer brings excitement, but also anxiety.
They are Premier League champions again.
Now everyone’s watching to see how they’ll stay ahead.
In the background, rivals are moving fast.
Manchester City are already pushing for a new attacking midfielder.
Pep Guardiola made contact with Ryan Cherki who was previuosly linked to Liverool on the subject of a move to the club.
Arsenal will spend again.
But for Liverpool, the message is clear—build from strength.
That means big decisions and even bigger investments.
There’s also the reality that some familiar faces are leaving.
Trent Alexander-Arnold is going to Madrid.
Caoimhin Kelleher is heading out too.
It’s a time of change—but also opportunity.
Liverpool are not wasting it.
According to The Telegraph, Liverpool are advancing in talks to sign Florian Wirtz, their top summer target.
They’ve submitted a £109 million bid, which has not been accepted yet, but discussions are ongoing.
Arne Slot is keen on getting the German playmaker in as he prepares to defend the Premier League title next season.
The report read, “Liverpool are advancing in talks to sign Florian Wirtz despite their club-record £109 million bid yet to be accepted by Bayer Leverkusen.”
“Wirtz remains Liverpool’s No 1 target this summer.”
“They are also negotiating to sign Milos Kerkez, and have agreed an £18 million deal with Brentford for Caoimhin Kelleher.”
“Arne Slot, the Liverpool manager, has identified Wirtz as a priority acquisition as he prepares to defend the Premier League title next season and there is an expectation that a transfer can be agreed this week.”
Wirtz isn’t the only name on Liverpool’s list.
The club is also reportedly working on a deal to acquire left-back Milos Kerkez from Bournemouth.
The fee could rise to £40 million, but as things stand, Bournemouth are taking a hard stance on selling.
Player terms are also not agreed yet.
Kerkez, when asked about the rumours, said, “I think it’s normal that if you play well and the team does well, then you get into the news and end up on the front page, and everyone talks about you.”
He added, “I see this as fuel that drives me forward.
All this doesn’t break me, but it doesn’t ‘boost’ my ego either, but it teaches me humility and motivates me.”
Meanwhile, Caoimhin Kelleher is set to join Brentford in a deal worth £18 million.
He wants regular football, and Brentford will make him their new No.1, replacing Mark Flekken, who is moving to Leverkusen.
Liverpool already signed Jeremie Frimpong for £29.5 million, but there’s more to come.
The champions are just getting started.
