Arne Slot and his transfer to Liverpool is all but official heading into the final matches of Jurgen Klopp’s tenure.

The near-final transfer of the 45-year-old to Anfield is expected to be officially confirmed by both Feyenoord and Liverpool FC sometime this week.

Paul Joyce reported that Liverpool will compensate Feyenoord with a fee of €9 million, along with an additional €2 million in add-ons, for Slot, who has two years remaining on his contract with the Rotterdam club.

Last week, Slot openly expressed his ambition to succeed Jürgen Klopp at Anfield after the German manager concludes his tenure at the end of this season.

Reports initially indicated that Feyenoord turned down an initial offer from Liverpool of around £7.7 million.

However, discussions continued, and Liverpool returned with an improved proposal to finalize Slot’s appointment.

Feyenoord appreciated that Liverpool’s approach came following their recent victory in the KNVB Cup two weekends ago.

Slot is expected to bring several of his coaching staff to Liverpool, including head of performance Ruben Peeters and analyst Etienne Reijnen, who are both believed to be joining the Dutch manager.

And it seems that he may be keen on bringing one of his Feyenoord players to the club as well.

Arne Slot could bring Lutsharel Geertruida to Anfield

Yesterday, reliable reports from De Telegraaf suggested that Feyenoord’s Lutsharel Geertruida could find himself wanted by Arne Slot at Liverpool.

Feyenoord recognizes the defender’s aspirations to progress in his career and expects his imminent departure.

Moreover, with Geertruida entering the final year of his contract, it is unthinkable for Feyenoord to allow him to leave on a free transfer next season.

Now the reliable journalist Marcel van der Kraan has added additional context to his prior report:

“I think the chance that Geertruida will go there is greater than fifty percent,” began Van der Kraan via FC.Update.

“He’s on the radar and has done a fantastic job in the Dutch national team and in the Champions League, he’s a guy who is the best fit for the Premier League physically of all Feyenoord players.”

Van der Kraan believes that the 23-year-old would perfectly match standard of the Premier League:

“I don’t have any doubts about Geertruida, I’ve seen him play so much.”

Feyenoord could sell him last year for 25 million [to RB Leipzig], the club did not.”

“He now has a one-year contract left, I think a good amount of money has to be put on the table.” 

While primarily playing as a right-back for Feyenoord this season, he has also proven capable as a central defender, making 9 appearances in that position under Slot this term.

He has earned 7 caps for his country and is expected to be selected for the upcoming European Championships in Germany this summer.
