Liverpool are shrewd negotiators in the transfer market and have an exciting window ahead of them that is already gripping fans.
The Reds are fresh off the back of a sensational first season under Arne Slot after winning their 20th league title and reclaiming their place at the top of English football.
However, to stay there, a bit of forward-thinking and smart planning is needed, something that Liverpool appear to be doing.
They have started their transfer business early and already signed Jeremie Frimpong, although getting their other Bayer Leverkusen target, Florian Wirtz, through the door is proving much trickier.
Liverpool have been looking close to signing Wirtz since he gave his word to the club at the end of May, but slow negotiations have got fans worried.
However, the most recent update should settle some nerves.

After having a second bid of £109.6m rejected by Bayer Leverkusen, worries over finalising the deal are starting to arise, especially due to this being such a high-profile saga.
However, speaking on his YouTube channel, journalist David Lynch has put Liverpool fans at ease as he reveals that everything is still on track.
“Talks still ongoing and the fact is Liverpool haven’t been put off by that bid being turned down by Bayer Leverkusen and they are still pushing to get that deal done,” Lynch said.

“They knew from the very off that this was going to be a big deal, cost them a lot of money and knew they were going to have to absolutely smash their own transfer record, so they’ve gone into this with their eyes wide open and the idea of getting a €130m bid rejected has not come as a shock to them.”
“It’s now all about ironing out the final details of the deal and what that would look like.”
The only thing that may have changed in order to complete this move is the tactics that the Reds may deploy to get it over the line, with Liverpool rumoured to use Harvey Elliott or Jarell Quansah in a swap deal.
Both players are linked with a move away, so it would make a lot of sense, but as of now, there is no need to panic over Wirtz’s transfer to Liverpool.
Despite being set to demolish the British transfer fee record to sign Wirtz, Liverpool are still aiming to bring in Bournemouth’s Milos Kerkez, who is keen on the move to Anfield.
In the same update, Lynch stated that the Reds have been working behind the scenes to also get this move over the line, showing a clear statement of intent to the rest of the league.
“Expectations are for Liverpool to move on to negotiate a deal for Bournemouth defender Milos Kerkez,” Lynch confirmed.
“We know Bournemouth want around £45m to sell him, again no surprise to Liverpool and this has not put them off in terms of their interest in him.
“Talks have gone on with the player’s side and some club-to-club level, and another key factor here is the player wants Liverpool, he is absolutely desperate to join.”
Liverpool have always been astute operators in the transfer market but, as things stand, this could be their best window for quite some time.
