Virgil van Dijk was spotted with a serious piece on his wrist during Liverpool’s title parade on Monday.

Liverpool’s Premier League title celebration on Monday began as a joyous occasion with an estimated one million fans lining the streets for the club’s victory parade, but the festivities took a tragic turn when a vehicle collision occurred in the city centre.

Liverpool FC CEO Billy Hogan has issued a statement on the matter, with more information to come in the coming days.

Amidst the coverage of the parade, attention has also focused on the luxury timepiece spotted on the wrist of Liverpool defender Virgil van Dijk during the parade.

The Dutch captain was photographed wearing an Audemars Piguet Royal Oak Perpetual Calendar Openworked, a masterpiece that represents one of the most exclusive and sophisticated watches in the world.

The watch in question is a limited-edition piece celebrating the Swiss manufacturer’s sesquicentennial.

And judging by the specs of the watch, the 33-year-old is certainly enjoying his new contract.

The 41mm case construction combines titanium with Bulk Metallic Glass (BMG), creating a striking contrast between materials.

The BMG components, which include the bezel, caseback frame, and bracelet mid-links, are crafted from a palladium-based alloy that comprises over 50% palladium content, marked “Pd500” on the caseback.

This innovative material provides exceptional scratch resistance and a distinctive lustrous finish that contrasts beautifully with the brushed titanium elements.

It’s a classy choice for a classy player.

Perhaps the watch’s most captivating feature is its openworked dial, which draws inspiration from a historical Audemars Piguet pocket watch housed in the brand’s museum.

The sapphire dial showcases a brass blue inner bezel hosting the week number indication, while the familiar perpetual calendar layout displays the month and leap year indicators at 12 o’clock, date ring at 3 o’clock, weekday at 9 o’clock, and moon phase subdial at 6 o’clock.

All subdials feature deep blue accents with white printed markings, complemented by blue-coloured “bathtub” hands in 18-carat white gold filled with luminescent material.

Limited to just 150 pieces worldwide, the timepiece carries a retail price of approximately 175,000 Swiss Francs (roughly £175,000-195,000).

However, market dynamics have significantly influenced secondary market values, with some reports indicating current market prices reaching £500,000.
