Since former assistant manager John Heitinga departed for Ajax, Arne Slot has been on the hunt for a new third-in-command, and he has finally found one in the form of Giovanni van Bronckhorst.
Although they both have links to Feyenoord, the pair have never actually worked together before, suggesting he has been selected for his coaching ability above anything else.
Many fans understand just how good a job Heitinga did based on the way the players reacted when he departed, but most will be unsure what his job role will have entailed.
Now, with van Bronckhorst taking over, supporters have been told exactly what the Dutchman will bring to Slot’s coaching staff.

The 50-year-old had a simply stunning playing career, winning the Premier League and Champions League among many other trophies.

In fact, during his time at Ibrox he was on the wrong end of a thrashing against Liverpool, losing 7-1 at home in the Champions League.
However, despite this, journalist Lewis Steele has reassured Reds fans and believes that his appointment is a very smart one.
“A lot of people have been outing his faults to me, in terms of actually being a manager, picking a team, motivating them, doing the team talks, talking in the press, the only thing I’m thinking is he won’t have to do any of that at Liverpool,” Steele said on his YouTube channel.

“So, we can focus on what he is good at and what a lot of people have been saying, players, people close to him, most people have been saying he’s a great coach, a people’s person and is basically brilliant to have in charge.
“That’s what has probably got him this job under Arne Slot.
The main thing people have said is he’s genuine, commands respect and that is what you want, he’s also got a really really good eye for detail.”
As mentioned, van Bronckhorst had an exceptional playing career, with the majority of it coming as a left-back.
He was specifically known for his technical ability, awareness, and leadership qualities, something he could help instil into new signing Milos Kerkez.
