Alexis Mac Allister has been one of Liverpool’s best players this season, with the midfielder a key reason why the Reds won the Premier League title.
The Argentine international was paired with Ryan Gravenberch in a midfield pivot that has proven invaluable to Liverpool’s success under Arne Slot, with Mac Allister the driving force in the centre of the park, pushing the Anfield side forward.
With Mac Allister’s form catching the eye of Real Madrid, the 26-year-old has been one of the standout players in the Premier League with Liverpool, with Slot cracking the code on how to get the best out the South American playing in a deeper role.
And Mac Allister has now revealed that one goal scored this season for the Reds was the most important of his career, even more so than scoring in the 2022 FIFA World Cup with Argentina.

Speaking to ESPN, Mac Allister revealed that his long-range drive against Tottenham was ‘the most important goal’ of his career, with the strike putting Liverpool ahead in the fixture as the 5-1 result confirmed the Premier League title.
With five league goals this season, the former Brighton & Hove Albion star has shown he can be a threat in the attack despite playing in a deeper role alongside Gravenberch, with Mac Allister likened to Steven Gerrard for his ability to score from distance.
Yet despite scoring in the 2022 World Cup, last month’s goal against Tottenham was even bigger for Mac Allister, with the midfielder saying: “The goal against Tottenham is the most important goal of my career.
I don’t know if it’s the best I’ve ever scored, but it’s definitely the most important.

“I’m happy with the season I’ve had.
But I always said that I depend a lot on my team, I met players who helped me a lot in my game.”
No achievement will top winning the World Cup for Mac Allister, with the biggest prize in football one that only a handful of players have ever won, with only ten Liverpool players being crowned world champions whilst with the Anfield side.
Yet this feat has not stopped Mac Allister from evolving his game and pushing himself to win more silverware, with this season’s Premier League title win an obvious high point for the midfielder in his career.
And heading into next year, Mac Allister will be more determined than ever to add even more trophies to his ever-growing cabinet, especially with Liverpool now in a good position to compete for everything next season.
