On Tuesday afternoon, Fabrizio Romano revealed that Liverpool made their first move towards Alexander Isak in order to figure out whether a deal would be possible.
As mentioned, Liverpool have been on the lookout for a new striker since the summer transfer window first opened.

“They’ve [Newcastle] lost Calum Wilson, haven’t they,” he said.
“So, whether they can convince [Newcastle to spend] the money that they’re [Frankfurt] asking for for this kid, I mean, he didn’t hit the ground running at PSG, did he.
“He’s gone to Frankfurt, he’s played 30-40 games and all of a sudden he’s a £90million footballer.
“The world’s gone mad.”

The 2024-25 season was the first time that the Frenchman managed to score over 10 goals in a season, with his time at PSG less than memorable.
And, now that Newcastle have entered into talks with Ekitike, it feels like the stars could be aligning for Liverpool to swoop in and prise Isak away from St James’ Park, which, at the end of the day, is exactly what Slot would have been hoping for.
