Noel Whelan has insisted there is “no rush” to include summer signing Ibrahima Konate in the Liverpool starting eleven.

I don’t think Jurgen Klopp goes out there after three or four months and says, ‘That’s it, he’s not very good’.

Konate has made just two appearances out of a possible 10 for Liverpool this season following his reported £36million summer move from RB Leipzig.

Post-match, manager Jurgen Klopp (quoted by the Liverpool Echo) insisted the Frenchman still had to “adapt” to English football after being taught some “harsh lessons” during his Reds bow.

Whelan insisted the France U21 international will “take time” to adapt to Klopp’s “process”.

The former Leeds striker, speaking exclusively to Football Insider, claimed there was no “quick fix” as the 22-year-old settles on Merseyside.

He signed a five-year deal with Liverpool, as he looks to partner Virgil Van Dijk in the starting eleven.
