Liverpool are still assessing their options as they embark on what could be their biggest transfer window in years.
The Reds are looking to kick on after winning an unexpected Premier League title and could be a different beast again next season.
The biggest addition is set to be Florian Wirtz, who Liverpool have been in talks with Bayer Leverkusen over for the past two-and-a-half weeks.
Wirtz will cost a British record fee if he does join, meaning negotiations were never likely to be quick.
In the meantime, Liverpool could also do with a new number nine for their Premier League title defence.
After a good season with Eintracht Frankfurt, Hugo Ekitike has been mentioned as a possible target.
However, Chelsea were named as favourites for Ekitike recently, and according to journalist Fabrizio Romano, the Frenchman is not a current priority for Liverpool.

Whether Liverpool really need a new striker this summer is almost totally dependent on the future of Darwin Nunez.
Nunez has looked certain to leave Liverpool in the run up to the summer window, but, now that it is here, movement has not arrived.

With the Reds unlikely to go big on another striker without having sold Nunez first, Romano says they are first prioritising getting Wirtz and left-back Milos Kerkez over the line before deciding what to do.
“There are many clubs appreciating Hugo Ekitike.
It’s true that Liverpool like him,” the reporter told the Here We Go Podcast on Sunday.

“They [Liverpool] had some contacts to understand the situation.
But at the moment the focus for Liverpool is Florian Wirtz – coming soon, Milos Kerkez – coming soon.”
“They are not advancing for Ekitike but they made some calls over recent weeks to understand the situation of the player, the costs,” Romano adds.
“So, he’s a player they like, but let’s see if they decided to go strong on him or another one.
It also depends on the outgoings.”
A lot does seem to depend on Nunez’s immediate future as to whether Liverpool sign a number nine this summer.
As a result, it makes sense that the Reds would wait and see how the cards will fall before taking things further with Ekitike.
Having said that, if Liverpool were convinced by the 23-year-old, there’s every chance that they would make an early move in order to stave off any competition.
That they haven’t may suggest to some that Liverpool have a different target up their sleeve.
As Rousing The Kop revealed last week, Liverpool have not given up on signing Alexander Isak this summer, while the likes of Viktor Gyokeres and Victor Osimhen have not yet been ruled out either.
