Thiago Alcantara is still weeks away from returning to Liverpool action due to his ongoing knee injury, confirms Reds manager Jurgen Klopp.

The Spain international suffered a serious knee injury in the Merseywide derby on 17 October when Everton striker Richarlison put in a high tackle which resulted in a red card.

Klopp has explained why the injury is dragging on and how it proved confusing after the initial prognosis was relatively positive.

'Thiago we have to maybe clarify it a little bit,' Klopp told a press conference on Monday.

'So, on that day whenever it was, when Thiago got injured in that bad challenge in the Everton game, there was another bad injury after the scans.

There is some good news for Klopp with Jordan Henderson fit again after his recent injury problem.
