Although his playing days are long behind him now, there’s still one Liverpool player who he chose to laud after the performances he used to put in against him while he played for Arsenal.
As mentioned, Henry is a Premier League great, and while he often got praised in the media for the number of goals he scored, there were times when he couldn’t get past his opponents.
In fact, in the latest episode of the Stick to Football Podcast, Henry admitted that Jamie Carragher often stopped him more than he got past.
“I say it to Jamie so many times, Jamie stopped me way more than I passed him,” he said.
“All you need as a nine is one [chance] because you need to believe that you’re going to make it happen.”

This comment from Henry left Carragher somewhat taken aback, with the Liverpool legend sarcastically replying, “Really, I can’t remember that!”
There’s no denying that Carragher is a Liverpool legend, with the centre-back making 739 appearances for the Anfield outfit before hanging up his boots.

And, the fact that Henry himself said that Carragher stopped him more than he got past outlines how good of a player he actually was.
The centre-back embodied what it meant to be a Liverpool player, and unlike Trent Alexander-Arnold, who has chosen to exit Anfield, he stayed with the Reds for the entirety of his career.
At the end of the day, even if rival fans don’t see the defender as much of a Premier League legend as he didn’t bring the title home, there’s simply no denying that he was one of the best.
