Liverpool are preparing for one of their biggest seasons in recent history as they aim to retain their title.
Arne Slot’s first season with the Reds could not have gone much better as the Dutchman guided them to the Premier League title rather comfortably.
They now have the job of retaining it and not many teams have been able to do that in the past, although all the signs suggest they might do just that.
Liverpool have spent just under £200m, although that is expected to rise very soon, and brought in players who could very well keep them at the pinnacle of English football.
Despite the new season still just under a month away, predictions are already starting to be made and Thierry Henry has had his say on whether the Reds will be able to retain their title.
Over the last few years, it has been a clear three-horse race for the Premier League with Liverpool competing with Arsenal and Manchester City.
Although the Reds romped to the title last season, both of their close rivals have reinforced well and it will likely be tighter this time around, with Henry believing that this might just be Arsenal’s year.
“Do I think that Mikel Arteta is doing a great job?
Am I going to think we’re going to win the league this year?
I do understand when people keep asking whether we are going to go over the line.

“But [across five years], if we come second, second, second, it doesn’t mean we are going to come short again.
You’re not going to win all the time.
“But to be in a position to win, you need to first and foremost be in a position to know how to win – that’s what they’ve done recently, and hopefully, they can go over the line.”
It is certainly a bold prediction to have so early on, but at the same time, it is not a completely outrageous take given how well Arsenal have strengthened this summer already.
When Slot first arrived, he had a decent amount of pressure on his shoulders, but he was never expected to win the Premier League, meaning he may have been a little less stressed.
However, after setting the bar so high in his first season, the pressure will now be immense and expectations will be higher than ever, something that could affect the way Liverpool play.
They have recruited well and improved the areas that desperately needed it, so they are certainly in the best position possible to keep the title at Anfield.
But being the favourites is not always a positive thing and only time will tell how both the players and manager will cope, but Liverpool fans will definitely be hoping Henry’s prediction does not come true.
