Thomas Tuchel can emulate Jose Mourinho if Chelsea avoid defeat to Liverpool tonight – although his record against Jurgen Klopp isn’t all that good.
They’re also going well in the FA Cup and Champions League this term.
The German has made a positive start to life at Stamford Bridge – he’s yet to experience defeat in his new job, winning six and drawing three in all competitions.
Mourinho isn’t the benchmark for strong starts at Chelsea though.
There are shades of the club’s greatest ever manager in Tuchel, as Mourinho went unbeaten in his first ten matches in charge during his first spell in west London.
He’s brought Chelsea right back into contention to finish in the Champions League spots and a result at Anfield will see them break in the top four.
Tuchel won the last time the two German managers locked horns when previous club Paris Saint-Germain beat Liverpool in the Champions League group stage at the Parc des Princes in November 2018.
