Merseyside Police arrested three men for alleged homophobic chanting during Liverpool’s draw against Chelsea. One of the men was arrested inside the stadium at Anfield while the other two were detained outside the ground for separate offences on Saturday. Liverpool faced Chelsea on Saturday The three men, aged 23, 37 and 49, were all arrested on suspicion of homophobic intentional harassment, alarm or distress.
It follows protocol from the Football Association (FA) to come down harder on homophobic chanting at matches in the Premier League. That includes homophobic slurs that have been used against Chelsea and their fans and players.
