Ryan Gravenberch and Alexis Mac Allister were like new signings for Arne Slot this season, according to Didi Hamann

Former Liverpool star Didi Hamann has hailed the impact of midfielders Ryan Gravenberch, Alexis Mac Allister and Curtis Jones in helping Arne Slot win the title - without having to make signings.

The Reds finally clinched their Premier League crown on Sunday after a 5-1 thrashing of Tottenham, sealing a 20th top flight title.

Slot's men have cruised to the title with four games remaining, after watching nearest rivals Arsenal fall away from contention, after losing just two games all season.

Liverpool have been by far the most consistent team thanks to some superb goalscoring displays from Mohamed Salah, who has netted 28.

But the Reds were also boosted by some excellent midfield performances from Gravenberch and MacAllister, who have formed an outstanding partnership in the middle of the park, while boyhood star Jones has also played his part with some worthy displays from 16 league starts.

There were initially question marks when Liverpool made just one signing last summer by snapping up Federico Chiesa from Juventus for £12m, thought the Italian has barely played for the club.

and Hamann said the trio had been "rejuvenated" by Slot, who has focused on developing the squad he inherited from Jurgen Klopp.

“Klopp bought quite a few players in his last season and it did improve," he told talkSport.

"What we must forget is that no player came in last summer and only Chiesa came in late in the window.

“What he did is rejuvenate Gravenberch and Curtis Jones because they have been regulars.

Players who haven't played much last season were like new signings.

"Curtis Jones was a bit-part player, he's played more games than ever.

The big difference has been Gravenberch and Mac Allister in the middle of the park, they have been brilliant."

Jones managed three goals and three assists this season while Mac Allister and Gravenberch registered eight assists between them, proving to be a real force both technically and physically.

Hamann - who played 280 times for the Reds and won the Champions League with them in 2005 - still doesn't believe Liverpool need to sign too many players again this summer after praising the core of their squad, but says Slot could do with a new striker after being left unimpressed by Darwin Nunez.

The German added: "If Liverpool keep most of their team together - they've kept Salah and van Dijk but I'm still not sure what will happen with Trent Alexander-Arnold, he's most likely to go.
