New Real Madrid boss Carlo Ancelotti has asked the club to pursue a move for Chelsea forward Timo Werner this summer, according to reports.

Werner scored on 12 occasions from 52 appearances in all competitions for Chelsea, a muted return when compared with his 34-goal haul during his final season with Leipzig.

Werner spurned two golden chances to score against West Ham United in the Premier League and Real Madrid in the Champions League semi-finals respectively, before wasting another in the early stages of the final against Manchester City.

Despite his substandard campaign for Chelsea, he is attracting interest from Spanish giants Real with Ancelotti a keen admirer, according to Fichajes.

It is believed that Chelsea would not be flatly opposed to the idea of selling Werner and could accept a 'reasonable' offer for his services.

Chelsea boss Tuchel admitted back in April that he was unimpressed by the troubled forward's glaring misses, but suggested that he still has every chance of justifying his transfer fee by recapturing his form of old once again.
