Speaking on the Red Agenda Podcast, James Pearce has delivered an update on Naby Keita and Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain’s futures at Liverpool.

The Reds may sell a few players this summer, and with Keita and Oxlade-Chamberlain struggling to make much of an impact for the Anfield outfit this term, understandably, there has been speculation about a potential departure for the pair.

Pearce was answering fan questions about Liverpool, and one thing supporters were keen to hear about was whether or not Keita and the Ox would be leaving this summer.

“Well, to my knowledge, nobody has been told at this stage that they’re surplus to requirements,” Pearce said.

“With players like Oxlade-Chamberlain and Keita, they’re not players that Klopp would actively be looking to move on, but they’re also not players that Liverpool would be fighting to keep if there was an offer on the table that made sense for all parties.

“Oxlade-Chamberlain has had a really disappointing season, there’s no getting away from that. He’s had injuries that have hampered him, but when he’s been available, he hasn’t done himself justice and his contribution hasn’t been great.

“Similarly with Keita, flashes of absolute brilliance where you think he’s arrived, and then he produces a performance like he did in the first-leg against Real Madrid, and you think how many more big chances are you going to give this guy?”

It seems as though Oxlade-Chamberlain and Keita aren’t actively on the market, but if someone comes in for them, they could be sold.

Some Liverpool fans seem to think Keita is on his way out, so perhaps that’s one to keep an eye on, but with Oxlade-Chamberlain’s injury issues in recent seasons, it may be harder to find a club who are willing to pay big money for him.

It remains to be seen whether or not Liverpool receive offers for either player once the window opens.
