If you're a top footballer playing in Europe at the moment, is it likely that you've been linked with a transfer move to Chelsea in recent weeks.

The Blues are busy in the market right now and they hope to add a number of fresh faces before the closure of the window.

If the Liverpool model is indeed one to follow as Boehly suggests, it poses the question as to why he's conducting such contradictory business at Chelsea.

The American businessman — who also owns the Los Angeles Dodgers and the Los Angeles Lakers — has made a start to life in England which conflicts with the approach of FSG, despite his admiration for the Reds from afar.

Speaking at the SuperReturn International conference in June (via Football.London), he described Liverpool's model as one for Chelsea to mimic.

The pair are undeniably good players, but considering their respective ages and wage demands, it is reasonable to suggest Liverpool would have avoided both by instead prioritising younger versions.
