An icon of basketball who has transcended the sport, yes, but is leaning upon his wisdom in the fields of football and baseball really a smart move, or is it simply a case of Werner and Fenway Sports Group being polite, showing that they would welcome any ideas from their new partners, although maybe not as far as influencing decision making policy?

"I will be surprised actually if they don’t weigh in (on management decisions of either team) – I would welcome their thoughts,” Werner told The Athletic.
