Liverpool forward Mohamed Salah is now the fifth highest-earning footballer in the world when salary and endorsements are included, according to a new report.

Analysts at US sports business website Sportico looked at the highest-paid players across world football through a combination of both their weekly wage and also the value of the commercial endorsement deals that they had in place.

Salah, 30, penned a new three-year deal with the Reds during the summer, putting an end to more than a year of speculation surrounding his Anfield future, with reports suggesting his weekly wage was now in excess of £350,000, a sum of just over £18m per year.

His position as the most prominent Muslim football in the world and one of African football's greatest players past or present makes him a hugely marketable proposition for some firms looking to establish themselves in territories where Salah commands huge popularity.

Salah was identified in 2017 as having all the necessary attributes to thrive in a Jurgen Klopp system and the Reds paid an initial £36.5m for his services in a deal that proved to be a bargain as he raised the bar upon his arrival at Anfield and embarked on a remarkable run that has seen him bag 163 goals in 263 game.
