Everton are close to confirming the signing of Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall from Chelsea, but the deal is not over the line just yet.
The 26-year-old joined the West London side from Leicester City 12 months ago, but has failed to make an impact at Stamford Bridge.
Last season, the midfielder started just two Premier League games for the Blues, playing only 258 minutes of top-flight football in total.
Now, Dewsbury-Hall looks set to join Everton, after the Toffees reportedly agreed on a £28million deal with Chelsea for the Englishman.
However, Everton’s former chief Keith Wyness – who served as CEO at Goodison Park between 2004 and 2009 and now runs a football consultancy advising elite clubs – believes the deal could still fall through, despite being at an advanced stage.

Speaking on the new edition of Football Insider’s Inside Track podcast, Wyness revealed that Dewsbury-Hall is booked in for a medical at Everton, ahead of his proposed switch from Stamford Bridge.
David Moyes is eager to add talent to his squad in the latter stages of the window, after an underwhelming start to the summer.
However, Wyness warned that the deal is not completely sealed, and that anything can happen until confirmation of the move is announced.
He told Football Insider‘s Inside Track podcast: “This deal makes sense.
Chelsea bought him for about £30m, so they’re basically getting their money back, and there’ll probably be some sort of sell-on or some other deal.
He will do well at Everton.
“I know that he’s booked in for a medical, apparently.
“It’s good for him to be away from Chelsea.
I think he’ll become an Everton favourite and I’m encouraged by that particular signing.”

Meanwhile, Football Insider exclusively revealed that Southampton have opened preliminary talks to sign West Brom sensation Tom Fellows as Everton push hard to land Tyler Dibling.
The Championship big guns have lined up the winger, 22, as a replacement for Dibling should he complete a move to Merseyside.
Everton’s latest bid was worth £40million, including add-ons, but the Saints are seeking a higher fee for their 19-year-old sensation.
Southampton regard Fellows, who has also attracted interest from Everton, as a like-for-like replacement for their own prize asset.
