Liverpool striker Alexander Isak made his first appearance of the season in Sweden's 2-0 defeat to Kosovo(Image: Timothy Rogers/Getty Images)Alexander Isak made his first appearance of the season in Sweden's difficult 2-0 defeat loss to Kosovo.
Isak, 25, arrived at Anfield for a Premier League record breaking £125million, but he had not got on the pitch for close to three months.
After informing Newcastle United he wanted to leave at the start of the transfer window, Isak was banished from the Magpies squad.
While Eddie Howe's side were competing in pre-season tours in Asia, the forward was training on his own.
He was sidelined throughout the start of the Premier League campaign, but he was still called up by his country to play in their World Cup qualifiers against Slovenia and Kosovo.
After Isak got onto the pitch for the first time this season, here's how the national and foreign media viewed his appearance.
The Daily Mail described his appearance as a "torrid return to competitive action" while also stating "his only real contribution to the game was a booking for clashing with Kosovo's Fidan Aliti."
The Mirror took a similar tone to the Mail, but pointed out Isak "had three shots, hitting the target twice but failing to beat the goalkeeper" suggesting Isak's striking radar is still on point, even if it does not contain the same power at this moment.
Meanwhile, Viaplay carried quotes from Sweden manager Jon Dahl Tomasson, who offered some context around Isak's current condition and why he did not feature in the draw with Slovenia.
They wrote: "Sure, Alexander Isak created two huge chances when he came on, but it seems incomprehensible that the Swedish loss stopped at 2-0."
All of the media comments suggests Isak will need some time to get up to speed with life at Anfield.
Considering the good form of Ekitike and Salah, as well as Cody Gakpo, it's possible Isak will not be deployed as a starter until his fitness is at match level.
