Liverpool and Arsenal target Nabil Fekir is “totally committed” to Real Betis despite reports suggesting the World Cup winner will leave the La Liga outfit in the summer transfer window, his representatives say in quotes reported by Mundo Deportivo.

When the former Lyon captain changed agents a few weeks ago, joining forces with the influential Promoesport group, some assumed a change of clubs would follow.

Tuttomercatoweb reported Mikel Arteta’s Arsenal were leading the chase for Fekir’s signature.

Liverpool, despite famously backing out of a £53 million deal for the two-footed playmaker after the 2018 World Cup, have also been linked again, with Fekir overcoming the fitness problems that threatened to derail his career and scuppered a move to Anfield.

But, with just a few weeks until the end of the season, Promoesport has taken the unusual step of releasing a public statement clarifying the future of their much-coveted client.

Fekir, they say, is going nowhere.

“Promoesport, the agency that represents the Real Betis player Nabil Fekir, flatly denies the information published in relation to the position of the player and our agency due to the economic adjustments proposed by the club,” says the UK-based agency, which also represents the likes of Eric Bailly, Carlos Soler and Adama Traore.

“The relationship between the player and the club has been, is, and will be exemplary and hasn’t suffered any deterioration for any reason.

“The player is totally committed to the project and focused on working every day to achieve Real Betis’ goals. Likewise, Nabil Fekir has always shown his gratitude towards the club and the city.

“His integration and identification with the values the club represents has been manifest from day one.”

Producing three goals and six assists during an admittedly inconsistent season, Fekir has helped Real Betis fly up the table after a dismal start to the campaign.

As it stands, Manuel Pellegrini’s side are sixth in the table and look more likely than Arsenal to be playing European football in 2021/22.
