The backroom merry-go-round has been spinning at both Liverpool and Tottenham this summer.
John Heitinga, who arrived only last July, quit his assistant-coach post to accept the top job at Ajax, describing the Premier League title as “the crown to our work” before declaring himself “ready to continue as a head coach” in Amsterdam
Club legend Claudio Taffarel, widely credited with maintaining Alisson Becker’s elite standards, announced an emotional farewell on 2 July after four transformative years.
In the same statement Liverpool confirmed that another goalkeeping coach in Fabian Otte – hired only last summer to modernise training – was also leaving Anfield after a single, trophy-laden season.
The club moved fast in getting some replacements: former Feyenoord boss Giovanni van Bronckhorst signed on as assistant coach, while Rafa Benítez favourite Xavi Valero returned for a second spell as head of first-team goalkeeping coaching
But it has now emerged that after reports linking Otte to Tottenham, the North London club has now officially announced Fabian Otte as First-Team Goalkeeper Coach alongside new Individual Development Coach Cameron Campbell.
An excerpt from a Spurs statement read:
“We welcome Cameron Campbell as First Team Individual Development Coach and Fabian Otte as First Team Goalkeeper Coach – they arrive following spells at RB Leipzig and Liverpool respectively.”
Players under Otte are known to have to face reaction drills using Swivel Vision glasses and tennis balls, while data-led shot-map analysis helps predict striker tendencies.
Frank’s progressive style at Brentford thrived on similar marginal gains, making the match logical despite the quick switch from Liverpool to Spurs.
Set to celebrate his 35th birthday next month, the German built an impressive résumé with roles at the USA national team, Borussia Mönchengladbach, and Burnley prior to his year at Liverpool.
His tenure at Anfield saw him play a key part in enhancing the team’s defensive solidity, with many crediting him for the noticeable improvement in the Reds’ clean-sheet tally during the 2024-25 campaign.
