Harry Kane has admitted he is yet to see a re-run of the Champions League final - and vowed Spurs have 'no excuses' not to pick up silverware this season.

Some questioned whether Spurs made the right call by starting Kane in Madrid, given he had not played since sustaining an ankle ligament injury in April.

'We've had the summer to reflect and move on, and I think before every season you're more excited about the season ahead that looking in the past.

Criticism is harsh, given the spending of their rivals and the fact that they have had to pay for a new stadium, which opened late last season.

'We go into every season trying to win,' he said.

'It starts now, the hard work, determination and focus for a big season and hopefully we can win that trophy.

'That's down to us, there's no excuses, and for me I'm just excited to get going again and try and have a great season.
