Tottenham have been tipped to agree a takeover deal in the near future after a tumultuous fortnight in North London.
At the beginning of the month, Levy stepped down from his position as executive chairman after 24 years in the role.
Despite leaving his post, the 63-year-old owns a 30 per cent stake in ENIC, who are the majority shareholders at Spurs.
Since his departure, the rumours around a potential Tottenham takeover have grown, but the hierarchy have maintained that the club is not for sale.
However, Everton’s former chief Keith Wyness – who served as CEO at Goodison Park between 2004 and 2009 and now runs a football consultancy advising elite clubs – believes there may be more going on behind the scenes than the world is being told.

Speaking on the new edition of Football Insider’s Inside Track podcast, Wyness insisted that Spurs could be denying their interest in a takeover as a negotiation tactic.
Following the Levy announcement, Tottenham released a statement saying that there will be no change to the ownership of the club.

Despite the official word, Wyness still thinks there will be some sort of investment or sale very soon.
He told Football Insider‘s Inside Track podcast: “I think there’s a lot more going on behind the scenes than we’re being told right now.
“It may well just be that the statement that came out is a negotiating tactic, and also a case of having to satisfy the takeover code in terms of announcements.
“I do believe that there is something going on, and there was a falling out between Daniel and the Lewis kids.
“I’m talking to my sources, and it’s all becoming a little bit clearer day by day.
I would not count out some transaction for Spurs very soon.”
Meanwhile, Real Madrid have set their sights on one of Tottenham’s most important players, as they look to strengthen their ranks in 2026, sources have told Football Insider.
