Manchester United outcast Alejandro Garnacho could be an ideal replacement for Son Heung-min at Tottenham Hotspur.

Speaking on the new edition of Football Insider’s Inside Track podcast, former Tottenham and England goalkeeper Paul Robinson tipped Garnacho to be a success if he does make the move to North London.

Garnacho was one of five players banished from Man United first-team training by Ruben Amorim ahead of pre-season, but so far only Marcus Rashford has been successfully shipped out to another club.

Tottenham, meanwhile, are in the market for a new left winger after long-serving skipper Son said his goodbyes to team-mates ahead of an anticipated move to LAFC, and Garnacho could yet replace him.

Thomas Frank has been linked with bringing in Garnacho to succeed Son on his left flank, and Robinson told Football Insider that Garnacho has shown enough to suggest that he’d be a hit for the Lilywhites.

Robinson argued that the standoff between Garnacho and Ruben Amorim makes a deal easy to strike with Man United, and told Football Insider that Frank could take the Argentinian to the next level.

This article contains exclusive comment from Paul Robinson, a football pundit and former England, Tottenham and Leeds goalkeeper.

Former Spurs and Man United scout Mick Brown told Football Insider that Garnacho’s future may not be decided until the end of the transfer window, as Tottenham play the waiting game on his potential fee.

Speaking on the latest Inside Track, Robinson said Garnacho would be worth the wait for Spurs having proven himself to be a “dangerous” player for Man United, and tipped Frank to get the best out of him.

“[Garnacho] is going to be moving on, isn’t he?”, Robinson told Football Insider.

“He was their most attacking, creative, dangerous player last season, and I’m surprised they’re willing to let him go.

“Tottenham; they’ve lost Son Heung-min, Richarlison is another one that potentially could leave – there’s a lot of comings and goings to be done.

“Garnacho certainly isn’t a player that I’d be disappointed [with] if he came through the door, I saw enough of him last year to be really impressed.

“There’s more to come – under Thomas Frank, [Garnacho] could develop and grow into an even bigger talent than he’s already proven to be.

“It would be a great signing for Tottenham, if they can get him out of Manchester United, which is seemingly a lot easier than it looked 12 months ago.”

Tottenham’s interest in Garnacho this summer is long-standing, but Frank’s side are yet to officially make a move for the 21-year-old as Man United stand firm on their transfer valuation of the wantaway winger.

Garnacho has been on the market with a £50million price tag established by Man United, but the longer he remains in stasis at Carrington and firmly out of Amorim’s plans, that value will only head one way.

Aston Villa are also in the race for Garnacho and have themselves been tipped to agree a £30m deal for the Argentine, and with United’s stance on his transfer fee likely to soften as the window progresses, Tottenham will be happy to bide their time.
