Tottenham are not yet done in the transfer market as a fresh update emerges on moves for Eberechi Eze, Savinho, and Piero Hincapie.

Man City’s Savinho is keen on a move to Tottenham, Mick Brown told Football Insider, after just one season under Pep Guardiola, while a race with Arsenal is heating up for Crystal Palace’s Eze.

Now, while Cristian Romero has been handed the captain’s armband, and Micky van de Ven is one of the most talented defenders in the Premier League, a move could now be made for Hincapie.

The 23-year-old has put up some impressive stats since signing for Bayer Leverkusen in August 2021, making 164 appearances, notching 14 goal contributions, and also deputising at left-back.

He has long been linked with a move to the Premier League over the years, most memorably to Anfield last summer, but with Spurs identifying him as a target, an update has emerged on what that means for Eze and Savinho.

Taking to X (15 August), Spurs insider and former scout Paul O’Keefe wrote: “Spurs have identified Piero Hincapie as the favoured left-sided centre-back.

The manager and club see him as an ideal candidate.”

O’Keefe was then asked if this deal would be as well as Eze and Savinho, to which he replied: “Yes”.

Football Insider verdict

Supporters were sceptical when Thomas Frank was announced as Ange Postecoglou’s replacement, but even after losing to PSG in the Super Cup final, those same fans are beginning to believe.

He was a much-loved figure at Brentford, off and on the pitch during his several years at the Gtech Community, and now he needs to prove himself in North London next season.

With Mohammed Kudus, Mathys Tel, and Joao Palhinha being added to the squad this summer, Daniel Levy is showing the manager a new show of respect and backing, which is unusual for him.

The main issues under Postecoglou were injuries, especially to the defensive stars, and if Hincapie could be landed before the window shuts, that would be a huge signing for the Lilywhites.

Not only would he add much-needed back-up to Van de Ven and Romero, joining Kevin Danso and Radu Dragusin, but he could also help cover for Djed Spence and Destiny Udogie at left-back.

A new forward would also be welcomed, mainly due to Son Heung-min‘s departure to LAFC just a few days ago, and that could come in the form of Savinho.
